Experience pure relaxation as you meditate in the peaceful serenity of
Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden. Breathe deep and allow the tranquility to
melt away the stresses of daily life. Nikka Yuko and the Canadian Yoga
Institute have partnered to offer regular yoga & tai chi classes in
our garden every summer season.
Tai Chi Classes
Saturdays: May 7 - September 24 9-10:15AM
This class consists of slow
continuous, soft and circular movements in a flowing form. You’ll
perform a series of postures or movements in a slow, graceful manner.
Each posture flows into the next without pausing. All levels welcome.
Tai Chi is a form of self-healing within Traditional Chinese Medicine
for your health and vitality represented as “chi” or “qi”, your life
force. A sophisticated form of movement therapy and martial art, you
will learn how to use the basic principles of Tai Chi: Breath,
Concentration, Balance, Coordination and Relaxation by using slow,
gentle, beautiful movements. Your entire body is activated internally
and externally enhancing a relaxed mental attitude, building good
health, mindfulness, brain fitness, neuromuscular and resistance
training.
Drop-in rates are $19.95/class, paid to
the Canadian Yoga Institute. Packages including a yoga mat rental are
$25, paid to Nikka Yuko.
Tai Chi will be outdoors, so please come prepared for an outdoor
experience. In inclement weather, the class will be moved indoors if
there is space available, or moved to the Canadian Yoga Institute
studio.
