Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden was established in 1967 as a symbol of friendship between Japan and Canada and has been a gem in Southern Alberta since. Learn more about the history of the garden and the important figures who came together more than 50 years ago to build this oasis on the prairies. 

Nakama Packages are only available during our summer season. Nikka Yuko is now closed for the season as of October 4, 2021.

Nakama [Close Friends] Package - $15/person

Book a Nakama [close friends] package this summer and take a deeper dive into Nikka Yuko and Japanese culture and tradition! Nakama packages offer guests the option of a guided tour through the garden or a chance to make a Japanese craft or even learn a Minyo dance! Packages must be booked through the garden directly and are subject to availability. Please contact us by phone (403-328-3511) or email to book your package!

Package includes:
  • Admission to Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden
  • One regular drink (coffee, tea, water)
  • One Matcha Maple cookie
  • Kids packages provided for children under 12 (includes activity colouring book, postcard, and Pocky)

Then choose:
  • A 45-minute guided tour through Nikka Yuko with one of our hosts or hostesses. Your tour guide will talk about the history of the garden and point out the Japanese philosophies used in the design and structure of this tranquil space 


  • Choose a Japanese activity to learn and leave with an appreciation of Japanese culture and traditions. Choose from a variety of crafts such as origami, learning a Minyo [folk] dance, or learn the game of Go! Your host or hostess will teach you your desired activity so you can show off your new skills to friends and family!

Nakama packages are booked as a minimum of four people to a total of 10.
